Are you the Hardware Test Engineer we are looking for?
We are looking for a Hardware Test Engineer to strengthen Vaisala’s hardware testing team. You will work on an ongoing and technically interesting R&D project in a multidisciplinary environment where new measurement solutions are being developed and validated. In this role, you take overall responsibility for hardware testing within the project, ensuring that physical devices meet functional, environmental and safety requirements as the product progresses through development.
As a Hardware Test Engineer, you will work hands-on both in laboratory and field test environments, testing real devices and systems as complete products. Your work includes executing planned tests, building and configuring test setups, performing measurements using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes and other measurement instruments, and collecting and analysing test data. You will work with both component-level and system-level testing, investigate issues related to mechanics, electronics and environmental conditions, and systematically identify root causes. A significant part of the role also involves analysing and visualising results and producing clear and structured test documentation, especially as the project moves towards later phases.
You will work closely with R&D, electronics, mechanics, software and production teams, while operating in a largely independent role in day-to-day testing activities, with support available from the wider testing organisation when needed. Testing is primarily conducted on site and may at times take place outdoors or at external laboratories. The role also includes coordinating compliance testing with external partners. While remote work is possible when tasks allow it, the hands-on nature of hardware testing means that on-site presence is often required.
This is a full-time fixed-term position until 30 November 2026, with an expected start in late February or the beginning of March. You will be employed by Biisoni and work on assignment at Vaisala in Vantaa.
What are we looking for?
You have hands-on experience in hardware testing and a solid understanding of electronics. You are comfortable working in a laboratory environment using measurement equipment as part of your daily work, and you are able to test hardware systematically and understand device behaviour at a system level. You can communicate test results clearly through structured documentation that supports development and validation, and you have experience building test setups, working with physical devices and analysing test results.
To thrive in this position, you are self-directed, proactive and motivated to move things forward efficiently, while also being comfortable asking for support when needed. You are curious about how physical phenomena affect device performance under different conditions and enjoy working in an R&D environment where practical problem-solving is part of everyday work. An educational background, such as in electronics or automation, is well suited for the role, but your practical experience is what matters most. Fluent English is required, and Finnish is considered an advantage.
Why us?
Joining Vaisala means working with technology that has a real impact on understanding and addressing climate-related phenomena. You will work on high-quality, long-lived products that combine software, hardware and science, and that are used in demanding environments around the world. Vaisala invests heavily in research and development and offers a welcoming, people-oriented environment where learning, curiosity and technical excellence are valued.
You will join a knowledgeable and supportive R&D environment that values collaboration, quality and thoughtful problem-solving. Although the position is fixed-term, it offers a clearly defined and meaningful opportunity to deepen your hardware testing expertise and contribute to an important product development project.
