Test Engineer, Vaisala
Do you have previous experience in test automation and do you want career with a clear purpose? This position could be the one for you!
We usually respond within two weeks
Vaisala is a global leader in measurement instruments and intelligence helping industries, nations, people, and the planet to thrive. From predicting hurricanes to optimising renewable energy production, our technology is used where it matters the most – from data centres, windfarms and laboratories to airports, the Arctic and even the surface of Mars. Vaisala was recognised by Time Magazine in 2025 as one of the world’s best companies for Sustainable Growth. Our team of over 2,300 experts and 59 nationalities around the world is committed to taking every measure for the planet. Driven by our shared purpose, curiosity, and pioneering spirit, we stay ahead and make a difference. At Vaisala, you don't have to fit in to belong.
We are now looking for a Test Engineer to join one of Vaisala’s product teams developing weather measurement instruments and the embedded software running on them. The products consist of physical devices that measure one or multiple weather phenomena and integrate with Vaisala’s and customers’ systems. In this role, testing is done against the product as a whole, with real devices at the centre.
As a Test Engineer, you will work hands-on with automated testing using Python and Robot Framework and develop test setups that interact with physical devices and embedded software. While some manual testing is part of the team’s overall quality work, the main responsibility of this position is to design, implement and maintain automated tests and test systems. You will test software running on real weather measurement instruments and work mainly in Linux-based environments. You will use version control in your daily work, participate in code reviews and collaborate closely with developers and other testers in a modern software development environment.
The team supports several products and product projects at the same time, including both new development and the maintenance of long-lived products. Work is organised in three-week sprints, and while remote work is supported, testing physical devices often requires on-site presence. In this team, there is a preference for working on site together during the last week of each sprint to support effective collaboration.
This is a full-time and permanent position, starting as soon as possible. You will be employed by Biisoni and working on assignment at Vaisala. The position is based at Vaisala’s headquarters in Vantaa, Finland.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a Test Engineer with previous experience in testing and test automation who is comfortable writing automated tests in Python. You have experience working in a Linux environment and are familiar with Docker, Git and code review practices. Experience with physical devices and embedded software is considered essential, as understanding the behaviour of device-based products is a key part of the role.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Robot Framework, GitHub Actions or Jenkins is beneficial but not required, and interest in using AI tools to support testing or development is seen as a plus. As a person, you are curious, proactive and comfortable discussing openly with both software developers and people working closer to hardware and electronics.
Fluent English is required, and while Finnish is not mandatory, it is considered an strong advantage.
Why us?
Joining Vaisala means working with technology that has a real impact on understanding and addressing climate-related phenomena. You will work on high-quality, long-lived products that combine software, hardware and science, and that are used in demanding environments around the world. Vaisala invests heavily in research and development and offers a stable, people-oriented environment where learning, curiosity and technical excellence are valued.
The monthly salary range for this role is approximately 3,500–4,500 euros, depending on your experience and background. Over time, the role offers a clear opportunity to grow deeper into test automation and develop a career path at Vaisala.
